I went to see the Marcus Shelby big band at SF Jazz, which was very good, with a really large sax section, all of whom were top-notch players. But the one who blew me away with an amazing solo was Fil Lorenz on bari - one of the best sax solos I have heard. I'm going to keep an eye out for him.
