felts under upper stack pearls

Under the pearls that close A/Bb keys and the B/Frocker keys there are felts which always seem a pain to get exactly the right height. Do you just have lots of felts with different thicknesses to try (I assume everyone uses felts and they aren't sanded like cork)? Thanks

If bending the key arms (which the felts are attached to) don't allow you do the fine adjustments you need, sanding the felts works ok. However, we prefer the Kraus sax key felts as they are harder pressed felt and suffer less compression and splaying with them, which helps them maintain their integrity and adjustments on the instrument last much longer. IMO..
