Lets see who you guys would think to make a great sextet with you as the saxophone player......Dead or alive...

Trumet?
Trombone?
Drums?
Bass?
Piano?

I will start...

Wood Shaw
Bill Watrous
Elvin Jones
Charles Mingus
Keith Jarrett

Cedar Walton

Yep...had to include that one just on general principle. Here's a more updated list, not that I would deny the first one...

Wynton Marsalis

Brian Blade
Reginald Veal
Brad Mehldau (in the absence of Kenny Kirkland...)

Actually, they'd all have to be dead, because that's the only way I'd be allowed on stage with them. :D

But in my dream world:

Elvin Jones
Richard Davis
Jimmy Garrison
McCoy Tyner
Jimmy Knepper
Woody Shaw

(you said "sextet" but if I could cheat, I'd add Ornette.)

You could add a few more and have a double quartet:D

In my dream world for a jazz sextet, it would be McCoy Tyner or Bill Evans on piano, and then after that, they could put in anyone else.

Just to spice things up a little bit, I'll suggest an alternate sextet format:
Sinatra on vocals, Lew Soloff on trumpet, me on alto sax, Steve Gadd on drums, Donald ***an on keyboards, and whoever they wanted for the bass player. Just to play the horn parts as a counter to Sinatra's leads, with his sense of rhythm and appreciation for a good horn part, would be a lot of fun.
