Kenny Wheeler is quickly becoming one of my favorite jazz composers. For my ears he writes very beautiful, memorable melodies and interesting harmonies. I'd say my favorite tunes are "Heyoke" and "Smatter" (both off Gnu High).

Favorite comp has to be Foxy Trot and favorite album is Double Double You

Definatley Smatter. I play that tune any chance I get. The ending messes at least one person up everytime we play it.

I agree that Double Double You is great. If you can, check out his recording Music for Large and Small Ensembles I think you'd enjoy it. Great tunes and arrangements.

Oh yeah--I definitely need to check both those out. I've heard a lot about them.
