A big thankyou to Spooner ( Matt) on SOTW and Theo's team. I contacted him about a slight problem I was having with the lig on my Kali tenor piece and a brand new one arrived free today .
That's what I call superb service.
Nice to know that there is a lot of great customer service and quality in the same company. I personally don't like Theo Wanna because that add right over "What's New" gets me every time. I must have clicked on that a thousand times. Maybe one day I'll try out one of their mouthpieces.

I can say that playing a Wanne tenor mouthpiece changed my expectations about modern tenor pieces.
They may not be everyone's cup of tea ( they have so many kinds of tea, though), but I think every tenor player searching for a mouthpiece should test at least one Wanne piece.

I've had some very satisfying communication with Theo and Tom and I now own a little clutch of Wannes. The fantastic thing for me is that on tenor my 6* Ambika makes a perfect classical mouthpiece for me, and a 7* Kali I recently got from a forum member is brilliant for R&B, but they are so easy to switch between, it's made hopping between different genres so much easier than it used to be.

I'm looking forward to the release of the Ambika alto; Spooner, is there any news on that model?

I recently got a metal tenor Gaia b-stock on eBay, at a really good price.
I had played a friends a couple times and was intrigued...but not intrigued enough to pay anywhere close to full price. (Probably cuz I knew I would never use it as a full-time, main mpc)

I found the ligature to be the most disappointing thing about the mpc. Once I got it off & experimented with other ligs that would fit, I found it added some much needed "character" to the mpc. (Which is my only criticism about the Gaia, its a very perfect mpc, perhaps a bit too perfect? )

On the positive side, the thing is manufactured beautifully, packaged beautifully, and, when comparing it to my friends Gaia, playing almost exactly the same. Really great work. I'm glad I got it & wont be selling it, even if it isn't my main mpc.

Plus, I agree that Theo is a great guy & always has been & have found his customer service to be excellent & speedy.

Now I'm curious. Which ligature did the trick for you in getting the piece to have more character?

Dave--

The Ambika Alto will be available soon. I took a leave of absence from work a little while ago, so a few projects that were close to fruition had to be put on hold for a little while. I'm still getting back into the swing of things right now, but we have quite a few new projects that will be coming together soon......be on the lookout :)

I recently ordered a custom Gaia tenor. I wanted the vintified finish on the Gaia and asked, there was only a $25 up charge. I placed the order and was told they would notify me when it shipped. 3 hours later the same day they sent me shipment tracking information...unbelievable customer service!
