Over forty years ago! We was playing with little technique (I still do it today :)) and a lot of energy! We didn't know what overtones were but we knew that the audience loves very high notes and then we went with the harmonics without knowing what would come out.
I was playing a Loudwes sax (a stencil by Orsi) full of leaks and with a Super Swing metal mouthpiece by Professor Colletto that could make the walls fall.
We was using our cane reeds last for months, refining it with razor blades and sandpaper.
Today I do not risk an over-acute even if I control the instrument much better and I do not have the same energy but I played this piece with the nostalgia of my 20 years:

Hi !

I listened to it on my TV and I really appreciated it.
Gato Barbieri played it, didn't he ?
Thanks !

Yes, Gato Barbieri played it, but I love it played by Carlos Santana.
I think for those of my generation who played in the 70's year Carlos Santana was a great reference, regardless of the instrument.

It was also a thousand times better live than on records: the second best concert I saw in my life was Carlos Santana in Rome in 1973 (the best was one by Frank Zappa and the mother of invention, always in Rome and always in 1973).
