I've been working on a Dexter transcription lately and it occurred to me that of pf learning the solo in one key and lifting lines I could simply transpose the entire solo into all keys and really try to internalize dexters approach in all keys. Thinking I might do this with all transcriptions from now on. Anyone ever tried this before?

That's a great idea, depending on how much practice time you have. Personally, I would pick 4-8 bar phrases and transpose them, rather than the whole solo. If you would really like to learn the whole solo in all keys, I would recommend a long term goal (1 key per week/month so you don't get burnt out and you can practice other things.

If I could get my eight hours a day in I would. But I still have the time to do all keys. Might take me a while at two or tree keys a week. I have about three hors a day to shed. I used to learn just phrases I liked in all keys but I think this would be a far more thorough approach

Yes, of course it's been done before, etc., but good on you for thinking of it.
