So, this performance really knocked me out! Stellar job by everyone. I was also wondering if anyone can identify what mouthpiece he's playing on? His tone is really great here (not that it isn't elsewhere).
I forgot how much I loved his sound on that Freddie Gregory. It sounds more focused than the Navarro does to me. They both sound great but a Freddie Gregory is something special that is for sure.
That's for sure. I haven't listened to this era of Bob in a while and when I heard it I was immediately struck by the tone. Focused for sure but so are the Navarros, just in a different way. Man, I've been chasing that tone for a while now. It seems to be a sound versatile enough to go back and forth between the commercial stuff and the jazz stuff.
Great clip! Thanks for sharing. I don't see or hear Bob Mintzer lately much. Hope he is doing fine. One if mine inspirational figures. I have "Modern Day Tuba" playing in my car.
