Mingus Big Band at Iridium always entertains the non-jazz lovers...likewise if Lou Donaldson is playing anywhere (esp. when he's with Dr. Lonnie Smith on Organ.)

Zinc Bar is an excellent place (www.zincbar.com). I heard a fantastic Brazilian band there around Easter. No saxophone in that band, though, but great music and good for non-jazz people as well. I think Richard Bona (fantastic Camerounian bass player) playes there at times as well.
