I’m well aware that braces will affect your playing for a few weeks, but will elastics also be a detriment? I’m getting them about 3 days before my freshman region audition so I just wanted to know so I could request for a reschedule.

If you mean those little removable 'rubber bands' that sometimes hook on a top bracket and a lower bracket/post...NO. They cause no interference while playing.
I did two years of braces, sliding hooks, and multiple rubber band configurations while playing clarinet! ;)

When I first got rubber bands, I tried to go play and couldn't get a sound out (don't know why). Anyways, I just took them out when I played and put them back in when I was done. It was kind of annoying but it didn't affect my playing at all.

You teeth changing will alter more than the rubber bands specifically. If they're in the way of playing, take'em off while you play. That's what I did. An hour or so of no rubber-bands won't destroy what the braces are supposed to accomplish.
