I saw Eddie Mininfield play last night (as a guest artist) at Yoshi's in Oakland - I had not heard of him, but he pretty much tore it up on alto. Lots of energy, nice stage presence and some pretty serious chops. Did a quick Google on him - he has been playing with Sheila E. and before that with Prince. Definitely worth seeing.
