Do you want a prize for saying it first or was there another reason for chiming back in with no new info? :mrgreen:If you click on "Brecker" in my previous post, it shows Brecker was featured on that track. Not that I knew it was Brecker when I heard it... I just knew it wasn't Eddie Daniels.
Wow. Where did that come from? I only chimed back in as the link in my initial post with more detailed info might have been missed. I mean... you missed it, right? And had to google? Heck, I even admitted I was no expert on Brecker's sound and thought I was doing the thread a favor. You know, to keep folks from guessing further. No slight intended; at least on my part.Do you want a prize for saying it first or was there another reason for chiming back in with no new info?![]()
Sorry, I was just messing with you. I didn't catch that it was a link in the text of your comment until later. Didn't mean to come off as being mean.Wow. Where did that come from? That's burning ... is it from an album or audio from a gig? Eddie is really one of the great tenor giants ... I don't think he gets mentioned nearly enough as being a heavyweight because people think of him as a clarinet player that also plays tenor.
Yes! I never really paid much attention to Eddie Daniels before...he's got a great sound and I like the forward momentum feel of his playing here. Some nice long lines in there (something I'm working on) Gonna have to check out some more!
That clip was from the album entitled " Under The Influence" it's a great album. He plays tenor and clarinet on it.That's burning ... is it from an album or audio from a gig? Eddie Daniels is amazing on this album. I wis he had played more sax through his career. He is up there with Brecker and Bob Berg in that style in my mind. That clip was from the album entitled " Under The Influence" it's a great album. He plays tenor and clarinet on it.

Actually, from a tonal concept I think he sounds very close to Bob Mintzer. But still, his ideas are all his own. On clarinet he is in a league of his own, a master. I saw him back in the 90's when he was touring with Gary Burton, doing a Benny Goodman tribute band. Both such great players.Eddie Daniels is amazing on this album. Now I know I've told this story before, so I'll try to make it brief. I was fortunate to grow up playing in my father's dixieland band which featured a retired Navy pro on clarinet, who is truly world class (and knows it). Just an amazing player who can also make a bass sax dance. So not long after my experience hearing Eddie live as recounted above, I broke the news to our clarinetist, without naming names, that I'd finally heard someone that puts him to shame on clarinet. He just turned away shaking his head, muttering under his breath, "Eddie Daniels..."On clarinet he is in a league of his own, a master.
