I have a question for anyone who has tried this horn. I am wondering what you think of it's brightness/darkness, as I am looking to upgrade from a student horn and this is one of the only in my price range. I am drawn to a darker, smoother sound, inspired by Desmond, Pepper, etc. I know how a horn is played is 90% up to the musician, but will I have to work harder to achieve a darker tone on this horn? Or will I feel at home? This is assuming I have a good mpc/reed setup.

They are very free blowing and on the darker side of the spectrum. A more wide or spread sound than other Altos. I've played a lot of these. They need a good setup from the factory, but are very good horns.
