I've noticed these are very popular mouthpieces on tenor but how about on alto? I've discussed with few professional players who really love slant sig Links on alto. How about early-Babbitt Links (HR) for alto? How do they compare to slants and current production Links? What's your experience with these mouthpieces?

I'm (maybe) looking for vintage alto HR Link. How much these go for at the moment? My ideal tip tip opening would be something between "0.67-"0.72.

I test-played a nice early Babbitt HR Link on alto for a few minutes--long enough to tell that my intonation suffered, I think due to the large chamber. It is similar to a Morgan L chamber piece but the rollover baffle is shaped a bit different. Otherwise, the proportions are pretty close. I think you could adjust to the large chamber and get the intonation to work, and then you'd have a darker, more spread sound on alto. It could also be the case that the large chamber works better on some altos than others. The early Babbitt HRs are beautiful pieces, but the one I played was not the right piece for me.

I used a slant sig 6* on alto for several years. I liked my meyer 5 better, but I broke the tip off. The Florida slant sigs (like mine), I believe, generally have larger tip openings (I think the 6*is a .080) and large chambers. I think .067 is like a C*.
