Hi I purchased a Durga about 2 months ago. I noticed today as I was cleaning the mpc it had a small amount of green around the silver band. I cleaned this with some washing up liquid and sponge however it has left black spots.

I do wash my mpcs although not possible after every gig as I gig around 3/4 nights a week and have family ect. I guess I cleaned it a week ago so this has only just appeared in the last week. I do leave my reed in my mpcs as this is a personal preference so I know there is moisture in the mpc when I put it in the pouch. I use a a francis Louis ligature as the default lig is not functional for my needs.

My MV1 has some green also but this horn is around 45 years old. The Durga is new and costs £450 so not very happy. Any worthwhile suggestions?

Am in business anyhow as I got a great mpc :) Just a little shocked it happened as had a link for 30 years and never got any green on my mpc though it's brass not silver. I will try the polish.

Btw what's the best method of getting rid of the green on saxes.

I would care more how it sounds and durgas sound great. We all have our ways but for me it would not matter.I also leave reeds on the mp and this will allow plenty of moisture to be held on the piece so thats the tradeoff in the end.
