I know they used to have an official trial program, but by some reading their return policy still allows it. Here it is:
Exceptions: There are no returns on clearance, discontinued, vintage, demo and select open box items. Additionally, the following items are returnable only if defective OR unopened - strings, reeds, computers, tubes, earbuds, earplugs, recorders, tin whistles, flutophones, "world" wind instruments, harmonicas, raw-frame speakers, drumheads, drumsticks, turntable cartridges, fog fluid, clothing/footwear, body jewelry, sheet music, cleaners, polishes and polishing cloths. Software/soundware, books, CDs, DVDs, and videos may be returned for credit only if they are in their original, sealed packaging. If defective, these items will only be exchanged for the same product. All returned woodwind and brasswind instruments played by mouth incur a $10.00 sanitization fee. Returned bows are assessed a $8.00 return handling charge. Returned mouthpieces priced over $300.00 incur a $8.00 sanitization fee; the fee for mouthpieces $299.99 and less incur a $4.00 sanitization fee. Apple products incur a 10% restocking fee on any open box returns. Note: Apple hardware with defects in materials or workmanship, under the one-year Limited Warranty, are subject to Apple's return policy. By using your Apple product, you are agreeing to be bound by the terms of the Apple One-Year Limited Warranty as set out on the manufacturer's website. Stringed instruments priced at $1999.00 or more, must be returned within 10 days of shipment.

Abuse of Return Privileges: Our return policy is in place to ensure our customers never get stuck with a wrong piece of gear. Those who violate the spirit of our return policy by having excessive returns may be subject to limitations or suspension of return privileges.
I can live with a $4 sanitization fee (especially these days...). What I'm worried about is that last bit. Will ordering 6 mouthpieces and returning 5 of them violate the spirit of the policy? Anyone have recent experience with this?

I'd also appreciate suggestions if anyone knows retailers that do officially do mouthpiece trials.

Its been a long time but check out the multiple mouthpiece return policy. It used to be you would buy say 3 pieces, then return all or any for a refund, with the re-stock fees deducted, of course. Let's say you know what model, size and facing you want - the cool thing to do is to order 3 of them and pick the best one. This is probably not as important now with better accuracy on many mouthpieces, but on Dukoff, Berg Larsen and current Otto Link, you might be glad you did. OTOH, if you're really trying different things, you may have to do this a few times.
I don't think you will have any problem with what you want to do. They're talking about the creeps who go crazy with something that's a lot of trouble/expense for WWBW to manage, and is something they do to accommodate the needs of professionals, not squirrely teenagers who want to game the system.
What do you mean 'officially'? You copied the verbiage related to the mouthpiece trial program above. I doubt you will find a better mouthpiece trial program. Hell, just give them a call!
BTW, I've been a WWBW customer since the 1980s.

Called them on the phone. After a 20 minute hold the rep basically just read me the return policy I quoted above and didn't seem to have any problem with me ordering n mouthpieces and returning n-1. I'm goin' for it.
