I think i just destroyed my sax neck, a cotton sax swab stuck in it, I pushed i puled I put fire in it, screws , hammered and many more and at the moment the neck is foul of dents. The sax is a Tenor weril spectra II, it is not my main sax but i wanted to lend it to my little sister so she could learn to play too. Now i need to buy a new neck but i dont know the dimensions so i dont know if the new neck is going to fit. I own a tenor Ref 54 and the neck on the weril is a bit loose. But if i buy a ref 36 neck for the weril is there any way to adjust the neck? Or should i try to find a neck that fits? I am asking particular for the 36 neck so i will be able to use it on my ref 54 too.
Thank you in advance for your replies.

You put fire in it??? Did you try pushing it out the wider end? If you have something stuck in your neck, you should bring it to a tech, not hammer it and destroy it just to get the swab out. That being said, you should try to get a Phil Barone neck. They are relatively cheap and can be fitted.

At last the swab is out of the neck the dents are not that big. If i use the neck like this you think it will cause sound related problems??? I am asking because the horn will go to a beginner as i told you before and i dont want my sis to be drawn back by the horn. "She is already disappointed by her stupid bother" :(

You are the one with the horn, play it and tell us what you find.

I honestly can't say (or remember) I've ever removed dents from a sax neck which were dented from the inside-out. Hmmm... :cool:
I have, a few times. It's a mystery how they got that way, but I can only guess that it was from some DPO trying to self-repair dents that were originally from the outside-in, using who knows what for tools.

Compare the repair estimate vs. the price of a new neck. Their parts are reasonably cheap. You or your favorite tech can find out quick by calling;

Wouldn't they be called "bulges" rather than "dents"?
