Agreed. I Like.Very nice. That's a big solo, good job.
There's only a couple that I know of and that "Live at the Monmartre Jazzhus" is the only one I have. Thanks, Gents! Dexter's Black Lion recordings have a TON of worthy transcription fodder and/or are just a great listen! I hope folks who don't know them check them out...
A long time back I bought a little Black Lion *3-CD* box set called "Live At The Montmartre Jazzhus." I didn't know anything about the recordings, but I'd bought a previous Black Lion 3-CD Monk trio box that was glorious, so I thought I'd take a chance. There's only a couple that I know of and that "Live at the Monmartre Jazzhus" is the only one I have.
Yeah, those were the only 3 I knew of. And you're right, the 3 CD's are from July 20-21, 1967. The material on "Both Sides of Midnight" comes from the 20th, the material on "Take the A Train" comes from the 21st, and the material from "Live at the Monmartre Jazzhus" comes from both nights.A long time back I bought a little Black Lion *3-CD* box set called "Live At The Montmartre Jazzhus." It contained 3 CDs: Both Sides of Midnight, Body & Soul, and Take The A Train. I think they might have been recorded on 3 consecutive nights. They kill. Dexter's having a blast, and that rhythm section is a beautiful thing.
I believe there might be a 4th single CD floating around -- might even be the one you're talking about, Agent27...
