Dexter Gordon -- 3 O'clock in the Morning

4:51 into the tune he does a kind of chromatic bluesy lick. Can someone explain the intervallic structure of what this is? I have heard Hank Mobley do it too so it is fairly common thing.

I am at work today, so cannot get around to figuring it out myself...

it's an Aminor11 arpeggio ascending from A to the D, then drop to the B, then D to Bb, then D to the A....
