If you woke up this morning and thought, "I'd like to watch a duet of Claude Delangle on soprano sax and Branford Marsalis on tenor sax playing a wild, fun mini-concerto with a first-rate concert band," this is your lucky day. The piece is Scherzo Furioso by Jordan Gudefin.

Btw, this is the only time I've seen Branford playing solo classical tenor, as opposed to an orchestral part (e.g., Lt. Kije). Normally, his classical playing is on alto and soprano.

Missed this one this morning, but it also makes for a great closing-time-on-a-slow-Friday listen. Furiously great!

Wow, furioso all right! Just finished listening to this, relentless forward momentum, highly enjoyable.

Thanks for the heads-up,

Bringing the fury! Man, I missed this completely a few years ago, tour de force all the way. Branford’s tenor classical tone is amazing! I too, never knew that he performed classical on tenor along with his usual soprano and alto.
