I recently showed this to someone so thought I'd post here too, maybe someone else would benefit from it too. This is how I debur the outside of hinge tubes after shortening them to fit, which leaves a bur at the end.

I use cup burs. These are cup shaped burs for a micromotor or other rotary tools. I use them for various things, like doming adjusting screws, doming materials glued to adjusting screws, deburring, etc. usually in the micromotor but sometimes by hand. For deburring hinge tubes I use them by hand. Sizes from about 3.0mm to 8.0mm are most useful.

Photos are:
  • Bur at the end of the hinge tube
  • Cup bur
  • Cup bur used to remove bur
  • Hinge tube deburred

I use them in the same way. Glad you are finding them useful, Clarnibass.

Very small ones are good for de-burring flute knock pins.
