I have been offered one of those (silver) and did not know there was a BM model for alto, let alone a Fatboy model. It's not cheap, around 1750 USD. I'm curious it they are that rare and what they will sound like. I remember the BM for tenor I had ten years ago had a fat focused sound with rich partials. Have you ever seen or played one?

Never seen or heard of one for alto before. Might be safer to stay away!

It's being offered by a shop with a good reputation. I have just asked them for more information and better pics. This seems in fact to be a BM FB alto, and, yes, it's rarer than rare.

The shop has just sent pictures and a description of the engraving. Serial number is "1637" and the engraving says "FB BMA". The pictures clearly show the typical ridge of a FatBoy mouthpiece and the bite plate made of dental resin. I'm adding a cropped picture of the ridge. Looks legit.

Never seen a BM for alto. Never seen a Fatboy version for alto. Maybe it's a tenor piece 😁
