The attached photograph is part of a 1993 Selmer Serie III soprano. I'm trying to find out the exact name for the four "spheres" that are attached to an arm that hold the lower key assemblies. (Left of the photograph).

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

This should be interesting. For once, I'm at a loss for words.

"Quadrapost"? I just made that up, but if you like it, it's yours!

Platner, just letting you know that there are rules here against putting the same post in two locations. It just makes the place messy.
Perhaps remove it from the other place? :)

King post is a term borrowed from flutes, where it's common.

I think I've seen it referred to as the low key quad post, or pillar in the UK.

On sopranos especially it's also known as "the part that often gets bent while the saxophone is in the case" :)

KING POST.

Period.

I have heard well more than a half-dozen experienced techs refer to it as a King Post.
Well, if several more people go with “pivot bridge” here, we’ll have a winner!

Vote for me. Say “pivot bridge”, I know you can... :bluewink:

I like the descriptiveness of quadpost.
Sometimes it has none of the qualities of a bridge.

Thanks everyone.......I finally was able to talk to a parts person from Selmer and the correct term is: "Arch, Removable". Thanks again for all of the creative responses.

LOL...I can pretty much guarantee you if you asked 100 techs to point to the "arch, removable" piece of the sax you are holding in front of 'em...perhaps one.... (perhaps) ....would make a lucky enough guess to get it right.

Yikes. To me at least, that makes NO sense! But hey....certainly isn't the first (or last) time!

Not all Kingposts have 4 post heads, however. :bluewink: I have seen a number with 3...
Those, of course are Triposts. ;)
