Hi.

I've been playing saxophone for a long time, but for the past ten years not so much (family, work, etc).
Now I have more time (kids not so much kids anymore) so I'd like to get the chops back up!

I do remember there used to be some play along CD's back in the day, but given I don't even have a CD player anymore, is there anything else?
What would be cool is some kind of App or bit of kit which means I can control the backing instruments, I quite like the idea of playing along with a bass line.
I'm thinking of a bit of busking in the summer too, so something portable?

Is there such kit? Whats the new world of play along CD's?

OK, well, you know you can still buy CD players and they're relatively cheap. Also, a lot of the play-alongs can be downloaded as well. I prefer the Hal-Leonard series because they offer two of each track. One has just the rhythm section and the other has either trumpet or sax, which helps with your reading chops and playing in time with another horn. You can also just go on YouTube and look up backing tracks and a whole bunch of stuff will come up. Welcome back to the saxophone world!

Hi and welcome
you might take a look at the I real pro app, it has a ton of music, it is easy to use, I have it on both my phone and tablet, I use The Aiwa Exos9 Bluetooth speaker very portable and plenty loud enough, also you tube as suggested above
hope this helps, and welcome back, good luck

There are so many ways to do this.... I use Aebersold and Hal Leonard playalongs, removing the count off...create sets and download to an ipod....put the music on a 12 in ipad...with a battery powered amp I’m good to go....

I use the iPad app “forScore” to arrange charts in sets. I scan a chart into the app from a fake book using forScore’s built in scan feature.

I save arrangement from Band in a Box to WAV files and import them into forScore. Then play back through a Bose S1 Pro battery powered amp.
