Beginning this morning, trying to check the Forum from the laptop, I get the above notification. I use the https url to access the forum... using Firefox 60.0.1, I go to Advanced, and am informed that saxontheweb.net is using an invalid security certificate.

I can make an exception for the site but was wondering if anyone else having any issues based on a couple other issue threads going.

Btw, no problems accessing the forum on my phone using Tapatalk and opening this thread, so if this is a big non- issue let me know!

Just to verify: you do have "https://" present in your url (including the semi-colon and forward slashes)?

I'm also using the latest Firefox (61.0.1), and haven't encountered the issue. I also use Chromium and Opera, and haven't had the issue with those either.

Yes, I mentioned that publicly when this mess first started happening.
Ok, I wasn't aware, or have forgotten (senior moment donchakno??)

Oh, yes, absolutely. Here's the full url I usually use and that is experiencing the subject error: https://saxontheweb.net/

Just experimented around and it seems that if I go straight to the following Forum url, no issues: https://forum.saxontheweb.net/
This is the url used on my laptop to post this reply.

I can verify the same here: your first link gave me the "not secure" warning, and that the second link (which I've always used) did not.

Last night I was getting “too many redirects” message and my browser refused to connect. Is that the same problem?

Yes. It appears that VS is upgrading and tweaking the vBulletin software for the forum. We are only speculating at this point however.

Me three, even on my phone. Seems like a site-wide problem. Glad it's fixed, though the continued lack of explanation is a bit unnerving. Was it a virus? Ransomware? Are more snafus still to come? Should we all be migrating to another site before the Big One? Enquiring minds want to know!

Don't panic.

It's Wednesday. I haven't been able to access this site since Monday, until now. Like many others I'm getting pretty fed up with all the messing on SotW lately.

Anyone looking for a more reliable saxophone site might do worse than to try Café Saxophone.

I get "too many redirects" when trying to access the forum normally. I was able to get here by following a link from saxontheweb.net, but still get that error message when clicking on subforum headings.

Forum is not displaying properly -- with no menu bar (no "new posts" tab, etc.).
Now it seems that I only get the "too many redirects" when trying to access the Marketplace, and any threads there.

I was getting the "not able to redirect" error alot last Monday. Neither the forum.saxontheweb.net or just saxontheweb.net URLs worked. Nothing worked on Tapatalk either...

But, the "redirect" message went away yesterday and the URL forum.saxontheweb.net is working ok. Still get the insecure certificate using saxontheweb.net though.

And yes, I didn't type it out but each URL is preceded by https://

Hmmm, just did a quick test.
https://www.forum.saxontheweb.net is unable to find the site...
https://forum.saxontheweb.net does get me to the Activity Stream from which I can go directly to New Posts ok.
https://www.saxontheweb.net works fine, get me to saxontheweb.net from which I can access Latest Active Forum Threads ok.
https://saxontheweb.net gives me the "insecure connection" error message.

This activity is different than that experienced before this last weekend. Would sure be nice to know/be informed of what's going on...

My guess would be a badly configured .htaccess file. Why is anybody's guess (it's not exactly rocket science) - we don't know any more than you do in that regard.

Thanks for the response Pete! Given some of the post's lately, it was pretty obvious, to me anyway, that VS was not letting the Admins in on the issues we've been experiencing. Must be frustrating for you (and the others) to have a good idea of what may rectify the issues, but not be in any position to implement the remediation.

At any rate, while far from perfect I do know the work-a-rounds that will let me access the Forum and check in on the threads for which I have an interest. Here's to hoping this situation does not go on much longer!

I got this error this morning. Chrome notified me that saxontheweb.net is using a certificate issued to verticalscope.net. (I believe that Vertical Scope are the "owners" now?)

SOTW Admins, please get this addressed as soon as possible.

FWIW the specific error is: NET::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID

This says to me that Vertical Scope are not paying very close attention to this site. This is not good...

Just received this reply from VS,two days later. Here is contact for everyone to use. And no not everything is working cooperatively. 7A63A11B-4F02-4098-9092-62505EE53533.jpg

My reply to VS;

Angela,
Thanks for the reply.
It would be polite for the site owners to post some type of professional correspondence in regards to the multiple issues at hand. It’s been over two weeks and even the administrators appear disappointed from lack of support. Multiple technical issues compounded by the lack of any posted response has annoyed practically all of your good client base. I’m sure other websites have welcomed your companies ineptitude.

Must be nice to get a response from VS. I haven't heard a damned peep one out of them since this crappola started. And neither have the rest of the staff.

We are trying very hard to bite our lips at this point.
