Hi,

New here. Play Selmer soprano. Just bought a playable "pride of Elkhart," at a good price, for fun and doubling. The b/bflat keys are split. However, there is a small key, about the size of a quarter, on the lower left hand side. I can't trace it to anything! Any help/ideas?
Thanks ahead of time.

That's the old alternate Eb. Finger 1+1 in your right hand (F and D, no E) and it should open. It can be problematic, some people wedge it shut, or disable the mechanism somehow.

I see. Thanks. Seems like it has already been disabled. Doesn't do anything. OK.
These are usually disabled with a cork or by reversing a spring. For most people who don't want the function, it's just another mechanism that can cause a leak.
