hi people,

I know, there are a lot of threads out there and I read all what I can find , however...

I bought just some days ago my first Soprano a CONN curved 1925 and I expect to face difficulties at the beginning.(this is normal, is ok)
I am looking for a good MPC to match and to play it in tune. My tenor and alto and my C melody (all 20`s CONNs) demands large Chamber Mouthpieces.
For tenor I have a Link custom, for alto and C mel a Morgan and for soprano...?:?

thanks for your recommendations...

Every Conn curved I have played made in the New Wonder series has had a desire to gurggle form low C down. This is common with some horns and not others. Many people just put something in the bow to help. I tried different mouthpieces and some will stop this problem. I have found that a large chamber helps but the important thing is to find one with the scooped out inner sidewalls of the rails. I had a Chu and the only mouthpiece that worked was a Florida HR Slant. The bad part is that one of those will cost as much as the horn! Look for almost anything vintage. I have one that works well and has no name, only MO on the side.

I buy a lot of horns and one of the sopranos that came in last week had a Yamaha 5C with it. I tried it and was really surprised how well it worked on the vintage Kings and Martins. Might be worth a try.

I bought today 2 Rico royal Metalites. The store had the last one M7, I got it and a M5 (both sop MPC´s of course).
2 Pieces + shipping = for 54 U$. since rico don´t more make this MPC´s I thought to buy 2 to see what oppening works better for me. keep one and sell the other.
M5 is 60mm/Inch M7 is 65mm/Inch
