They are really good players...wouldn't go so far as to say similar to a 10M...because the 10M body tube and bow are completely different, thus so is the sound.
But as Bruce says, basically an early Pan Am, which is basically a very early 16M Director....and that body design also sounds hella good...nice and big and pretty dark, very Conn-esque. Any version or pedigree of second-shelf vintage Conn is a good horn; and certainly worth putting a few hundred buck$ into getting one playing well.
