I have an old conn (55xxx) that has a pretty badly misaligned pad cup on the left side of the bell (I think it's the B). The entire cup is misaligned, not just the pad. Is this something that might be due to a twisted bell? If so, how does one loosen the bell? Yeah, I know, I shouldn't try this if I don't know what I'm doing, but I don't have the $ to take it to a professional, and if I spend over 30$ on it-it'll 'total' the horn. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Leave it alone, it will cost you more to fix it yourself rather than see a local tech. If its not worth spending 30 dollars on, then just walk away from it now.
