Here is a video comparing a 1951 Conn 10M to a Cannonball Vintage Reborn Brute. The Conn has a huge sound, though some say that the Cannonball still projects more. Which would you prefer to play?

The Conn does sound a little better but finding a Conn that looks that good and someone is willing to part with is difficult at best. The VR was based on Cannonball's Co-Founder Tevis' mark VI and would have been better compared vs a Mark VI.

No, all it takes is money. There are any number of internet dealers who have something similar for sale right now. You'll pay for it though. The days when you could have picked up a cherry silver plate 10M for $500 are long gone.

Your definitely right. It does take a considerable amount of money but for me it comes down to "value", IMHO the pay off isn't quite worth it. If you can find one for 4k or under then your doing well but the last time I was seriously looking at one in that good of condition the fella was asking 8k for it when you consider that a Martin Committee III is going for 2k or less in pristine condition it does effect my willingness to pay the extra for a 10M. I have come to like the "The Martin" Tenor slightly better recently.

A puzzling comment... what does that have to do with anything ? (no snark intended nor implied)
Peope are less willing to part with a pristine 10M now that people have rediscovered them and realize how great they are. If I go to an estate Sale and I find one people still are practically giving them away but a private sale between musicians they are asking crazy prices now. At least in my recent experience.

This Conn was actually for sale. Ryan Lillywhite, from Cannonball, lets me borrow horns until they are sold. This one was reasonably priced, too. I do plan to do a CB + Mark VI soon, but due to that restraint of having to give the horn back, I opted for the CB.
