I am coming to Columbus in a few days. Anyone know of any venues I should check out? How 'bout shops?

Dick's Den often has some good jazz going on. I believe the great Steve Kortyka will be playing there Wednesday night. Tuesday night jam at Park Street tavern (I won't be able to attend unfortunately).

Edit: the show at Dick's Den I mentioned is Wednesday the 14th...

Early in the semester, but might be worth seeing if Capital University has anything going on. Lou Fischer (president of Jazz Education Network) runs the jazz program there & it's solid.

& +1 for Junkdude - bring lots of various strength reeds & prepare to buy some mouthpieces!

Couple other venues: Worthington Inn often has good live jazz (and good but expensive food). Also, if you can catch Tony Monaco at the Rumba Cafe that's a must see.
