Popped up today FS. Original owner, serial # 166xxx. Original condition with hardly a scratch, so he says. Looks pristine. Asking $2600. Price seems hefty but what a beaut! Don't really need another alto, but might be a good investment?

That's a lot of coin for a Martin these days.
That said, I bought mine in practically new condition in '05 for AUD$2400, complete with pristine case, receipt, orig warranty, mouthpiece, lyre and owners manual. Had zero mechanical wear, the best pearls I've seen and unmarked original pads.
Back then the Aust dollar was about .72 and the world was a different place financially, but I got to play the horn for a few hours before deciding to buy.

Personally, if I had to have a pristine "The Martin Alto" I'd fork out $1500 tops. It would have to be perfectly set up, too.

I just bought one for of my students for $800. It was in good shape with 80% original lacquer and just a few scratches.
