I bought Charles Lloyd - Sangam last year and enjoy it a lot. This is my favorite sax player for a number of reasons. He is an old pro from way back who is still innovating.

Re: Charles Loyd

Its Lloyd and yes he is a master from back in the day and of today imo.

Unlike his contemporaries of his era he has never sat back on his former glory and continues to be innovative.

His 2010 release "Mirrors" is one of the best jazz CD's and I think a classic lesson that you are never too old to be creative. Its a daily listen/lesson in my Mp3 player.

Charles Lloyd is one of my favorite players. I suggest you pick up "Hyperion With Higgins". This album features Billy Higgins (drums), Brad Mehldau (piano), John Abercrombie (guitar) and Larry Grenadier (bass). Some of the most beautiful music I have ever heard. Don't forget to pick up "Water is Wide" which is basically part two of the recording. Same musicians and recorded during the same session.
