Hi
Apologies if this matter has been raised before, but.
I have recently bought a Conn tranny, a 258 serial number, which Bear at Cybersax says is a very late tranny and one step removed from a true 6M.
Lovely horn and I am very pleased with it. However the case that came with it is neither original nor very good.
Can anyone please reccomend a decent case that will fit it that is readily available in the uk.
I have tried a couple of modern cases and it just wont go in, the table key stack and the left hand bell keys seem to be the problem.
Really I would like a rectangular case with plenty of internal storage and an end as well as top handle.
Weight is not a problem, I am much more concerned about protecting the horn cos of its fragility with having a rod bell brace.
If anyone has anything secondhand that will definitely fit I am interested.
Hope someone may be able to help,

Thanks and regards

Richard

Hi there!
My first post on these forums was also regarding a case for a transitional alto.
mine is a 253xxx I believe.
Just so you know, there is a dedicated section here for cases:
http://www.saxontheweb.net/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=47
so you might have better luck over there.

and here is a post I just made about the ProTec case for my sax:
http://www.saxontheweb.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=71146

It might not be what you're looking for based on what you wrote in your post,
but at least you should know it's an option.

I tried a DEG hard rectangular case at first, and the horn did fit,
but I was unhappy with the quality of the construction.
Hope that helps!

Thank you both very much for your replies.
I have a hiscox already, for my selmer cigar cutter and I dont really like it, it does cope with keywork either side and it is a very protective case but there is little room for storage inside.
Thanks for the whereabouts of the cases section, sorry for the faux pas.
The protec looks like a possibility as you say.
Not sure whether we have DEG cases over here, I will look into them. If I dont find what I am looking for I will see about a custom interior for an aluminium flight case I think, from browsing the case threads this morning I see casing vintage horns is an ongoing issue and not confined to these shores.

Thanks and regards

I cannot believe that there is not a US product at least as good as a Hiscox. I buy my climbing gear in Canada, most of my outdoor gear as well, its half price. I have had snap on tools for many years as there is nothing produced in europe with either the quality or the ergonomics
Well I am in Toronto at least once a year and my wifes twin comes over anually as well so if anyone wants to swap a protec like Terminators and a deluxe DEG alto case I can meet them in July.......................
