I'm curious if anyone has familiarity with both makes, primarily tenor models?

I have a Cannonball VR tenor and enjoy everything about it except for the right hand ergonomics. The keys don't fit my hand well. I get around OK, but at times the keys simply don't feel in their proper place.

I have a Kessler soprano and like the ergo of it, so am wondering about Kessler tenors.

Thanks.

I wouldn't think the ergos on a soprano translate to a tenor but I can't say concerning any Kessler products as I've never tried them. I do play a Cannonball alto and the right hand is fine for me. The left hand low Bb pinky is a bit of a stretch for me but all the other ergos are fine.

Been a hot minute, but I'd say the Kessler ergos are better, but the overall build quality is better on the CB. Taking nothing away from the Kesslers -- I like them, and they sell them at the right price point, but they are what they are. CBs are a bit overpriced, but do seem a bit sturdier to me.

You should contact Kessler as there could be differences in the branded tenor sax line compared to CB. I have owned several soprano saxophones from Kessler, but I had some interest in a tenor once. Dave Kessler told me that his nickel silver tenor is produced in a different facility than his other tenor saxophones.

I'm really enjoying the nickel silver Kessler Custom Deluxe soprano. Smooth tone throughout. Plays well in tune. Great value.

It's been 5 years since I tried a Kessler. At that time they were identical to the allora Paris series and Chicago jazz. I've owned it too Big Bell Stone series Tenors. At the same time I owned both Allora. The Cannonball horns were Superior instruments. I didn't notice any thing specifically about their ergos. Cannonballs have stiff spring action when new.

I recently purchased a CB VR. The ergos are good for me, but I have a thought. When I played clarinet many years ago, my hands felt "bunched up" on that instrument. I have always played tenor and only played alto for a few years at the end of high school and 5 years afterwards. So I am accustomed to a tenor feel. I do agree that the CB B flat is a bit extended, but no more than the student model horn I had before. I find the play action smoother and easier.
