Hello. Today my vlog restarts after a long break. Did you miss it, didn't you? I do! In this episode I have played and analyzed a phrase by Cannonball Adderley from "Things are getting better". Subscribe to support my channel and to be updated. Enjoy!
Please let me know what do you think.
Bye, Fabrizio

A very valuable vlog. The English subtitles worked fine for me but I had to watch it on the YouTube app.

So cool, thanks for sharing. We learn Cannonball AND (Roman) Italian simultaneously.

@soybean Thank you. I don't know why, maybe the youtube player has slightly differencies between countries. Here in Rome the videos displays subtitles directly here on the SOTW.

@dexdex Haha "Daje"!

Let me know if you tried to played this phrase. What do you would like to hear in my next vlogs?

I'm not yet focused enough to work on such specific and long phrases. I'm just a Cannonball fan, and as I live close to Italy, feel SOOOO sorry about what is happening. We, here in Switzerland, are following the italian situation with anxiety, waiting for better news.

To answer your question: would I spend time and dedication working on great soloist's phrases, Cannonball would be a clear source, as well as the Breckers (both !), besides the well covered Bird and Trane. On alto, Phil Woods is one of my favorites too. But again, don't do it for me, I'm not ready to spend this kind of time on my horns. I've got band charts to work on.

Ok, I'm just curious about what saxophonists (other than me) could be interested about...
I will upload next vlog in the weekend. It is about the way I practice playing over the stop times.
Bye, hope we'll see better times soon

@10mfan thank you!
@Roundmidnite thanks, my vlogs are small clips for my practice sessions. I try to follow what Joe Lovano said in a masterclass:"don't practice practicing, practice playing"
You can extract phrases from a record and working on them you could improve everyting: techninque, rhythm, language, harmonical solutions...whatever!
I hope the best for you all, this emergency is spreading worldwide.
If you enjoy my vlogs you can subscribe to my channel, it's free.
Bye, let the music give us strenght!
