http://www.cainpark.com/calendar.asp Some great stuff coming to Cleveland. I'll be at Zappa, Etta James, TOP and maybe Fleck for the umpteenth time. Anyone else headed to Cain Park?

I'll have to catch a show there or at Nighttown when I'm visiting. They've got some real great stuff that comes through there. Despite being the "Live Music Capital of the World", Austin doesnt have nearly as much good Jazz as Cleveland.
I'm trying to make it up for TOP. I'm not allowed to drive myself up though.

Nighttown http://www.jwpjazz.com/nighttown/nighttown_special_events.html is a treasure, too. Some of the free regulars, like Jackie Warren or Roy King, are outstanding, as well as the name acts they book.

Jacob, get yourself into the greater Cleveland area by hook or by Grayhound and I'll get you to Cain Park. Tell the folks that there is a saint in Cleveland who could probably even find you a couch for the night.
Yeah I'm trying to work on my parents. My dad really wants to go to, but he has a gig that night here in Columbus. I've only been driving a few months so they don't want me to go there by myself. One of the assistant band directors at my school who I play with on gigs occasionally is going up, so I may offer gas money if he'll give me a ride.
I'd love to come to Cain Park, but my car doesn't float.:(
For a very reasonable price I could ship you excellent condition/quality flotation bags from a whitewater canoe I had...

Re Nighttown:
Brendan Ring, the owner, just got this http://www.nighttowncleveland.com/B...azzclubsrecentlyawardedClevelandArtsPrize.htm spiffy award.
The other recipient, Cindy Barber, is a real sweetheart that I've known for over 35 years. Besides the Beachland Ballroom, she is also responsible for the original Free Times among other things.
