Marvellous!!Custom Babbit. If you look at Mikes Bio you'll see his impressive CV so he has some connects for sure!
That's some great music and I love the humor in the video. Genuinely fun entertainment. Thanks for Sharing!Family friend Mike Smith.......
You're right C melodies are not terrible. Just believe anyone can play a decent sounding song.Marvelous. Let us have no more guff about how Bueschers, or C melodies, are unsuited to good jazz playing.
Wow, quite a big contrast between Mike's tenor sounding C mel and Dave's alto sounding C mel. It would be interesting to know what their set-ups are. That's some great music and I love the humor in the video. Genuinely fun entertainment. Thanks for Sharing!

Here's a video by another one of our own. Dave Pollack on a Conn straight neck.
Where are all the others?
Dave used his beloved alto Meyer mouthpiece. He is a fantastic player so he could make the C-mel sound very nice with this set-up. But he admitted that he had to struggle a lot with the intonation.Wow, quite a big contrast between Mike's tenor sounding C mel and Dave's alto sounding C mel. Buescher C-melody 1923Yes, Dave used a Meyer 5 in that video. It was also pulled way out.

What about necks? Some C mels come with a straight alto type neck and some have a curved tenor like neck. I'm thinking this must affect the sound as well. And Mike's playing is wonderful, too!
It does, Mike Smith is using a custom Babbit piece on his curved neck Buescher and Dave is playing with an alto Meyer on the straight neck Conn. I have Buescher, Martin and Conn C Melodies that play well, but they are different. What about necks? Some C mels come with a straight alto type neck and some have a curved tenor like neck.
