The issue exists because Adolph Sax used the term to describe a bore in one of his patents, so later some used the idea for marketing. But apparently Sax later patented a conical bore as an 'improvement'. This is all at the article I linked independently from the Postma site above. But don't read it, it answers too many questions and will rein in the imagination. :p

You're right, I wished I hadn't read it. :confused: So wait, it's not even a smooth parabola, but "is composed of three successive cones"? Sheesh.

Well, I'm gonna just pretend I didn't read it and continue to speculate wildly.....
