any guesses on what it actually sold for ?? [rolleyes]

The horn was in great condition- 100% silver plate and the gold plated bell was 100% too, no damage, nothing seized, 3 or 4 light ping marks on back of bell, original pads & springs, I think. About as good as it gets for a 90 year old horn.
It sold [ I was seriously out-bid :( ]
for hammer price £3800
= £4598 including commission & tax
that's US $7,313

Buescher Bargain !

Who on earth would pay that kind of money for a Brescher? :TGNCHK:

That is a pretty solid deal for a straight TT alto.

I would guess that the auction house may do a bit more research before advertising/selling any other saxes in the near future...or like a few places I've seen, they'll just assume from now on that any old 'Brescher' is worth £4,000.
