I suggest trying to find a brighter reed as well. Different brands of reeds play remarkably different in terms of brightness. I don't really know what's out there as I have been playing vintage Links with standard Rico reeds for the last 10 years. But there are some guys here who have checked out all the current stuff.
Brighter Sound
I want a brighter sound and am thinking about buying a mouthpiece sometime this year, most likely november, but I don't know what mouthpiece would do this. I know trying out mouthpieces would be the best way to find out, but some suggestions before hand would be great, I currently play an Otto Link Tone Edge 5 on a 1968 Mark VI.
