Hey guys, I've heard a lot lately from big name players about the great/iconic playing of Branford when he was with Sting -- could anybody recommend some specific albums to check out?

The first one. Dream of Blue Turtles is my favorite although I love Nothing Like the Sun as well.
I saw that band when Turtles came out and it was just such a great show, they had a real synergy, the whole band.

Cool to see you ask this, Bubba. I just added “Nothing Like the Sun” to my car this week. I was sharing it with my son (14), and talking about the grief that Branford was given for taking on that project. Branford is such a talent, and I have utmost respect for Sting. Highly recommended.

And they were great at Live Aid 1985: ... And boy, that was some very special fashion.
Yes I definitely recommend Branford and Sting! That first album is wonderful! Pretty hard to go wrong all the albums are great!

CHEERS guys! Got some homework, slow and steady. Happily taking more album recommendations.

Great doc about the first concert of that collaboration. Some burning saxophone and keyboard solos not recorded elsewhere.
Great film. Also gets into Sting's thinking in putting the band together. One semi-comical scene that has always stuck in my mind is the (then) young band trying to negotiate salary with Sting's Manager, Miles Copleland. Expecting the pot to be divided equally, Miles reminds them that if they don't show up the audience will still come, but if Sting doesn't show up the audience won't be there. :)
