Has anyone ever tried playing Mov.1 of the 2nd Concerto on a soprillo or 'nino? Theoretically, if they have the same range as the piccolo trumpet, it should work, no?

I am not sure which one it was, but marcel mule recorded the picolo trumpet part on a sopranino with pablo casals.

I believe it is long out of print but it was isseud on one of the old columbia prades festival 6 eyes.
Mike, this is the one.

My saxophone teacher, Allen Rippe, performed Brandenburg No. 2 on sopranino in 1974 with the Hartford Chamber Orchestra (on Larry Teal's sopranino). The conductor of that ensemble preferred this arrangement because of problems balancing the concertino parts when a piccolo trumpet was used.

I have a .pdf of Rippe's transcription that he used for the performance. PM me if it would be helpful to you.

I have that recording. So far I only have the first movement. But I'll be getting the 2nd and 3rd eventually. It's pretty cool. According to a website I found it says it was on soprano, but I'm not positive about it. I'll take your word over a website. It probably isn't in the right key, right?
