This is a new treasure to be savored and doted over, an instant all time classic. Truly on par with ANY Brecker brothers recording in existence. Sound quality And performance level is a 10 out of 10. Really in the Straphangin album vibe. Do not hesitate for a moment, you really must hear this to believe it.

Forget Amazon. This is cheaper AND they don't force their employees pee in a bottle...

Hell yeah, I'll definitely check this out! Anyone know what the lineup was during this stretch?
I'd wager Finnerty on guit, Neal Jason bass and probably Richie Morales drums. At least that's who it sounds like to me (listening to Funky Sea). No idea who would've been on keyboards during that stretch.
Man, I freakin' LOVE that envelope filter!

I’m going absolutely nuts over this release.
Michael Brecker never ceases to completely and utterly blow me completely away.

Finally received my copy a couple days ago: it took over a month! Fortunately, it was worth the wait.

I've always though that the best way to listen to the Brecker Brothers is live. The studio albums always have lots of great playing, but the production often sounds dated. Live, there are fewer electronics and the solos are longer, and that's how I like it. This release has lots of prime Micheal Brecker, and his solo on "Funky Sea," which includes a long cadenza at the end, is unbelievable, worth the price of admission in itself. Randy plays great, as usual, too, and Neil Jason really brings the funk on bass. My only disappointment is that drums aren't recorded very well: if Richie Morales had any cymbals on his kit that night, they're pretty inaudible on the recording. But this is still really really good. A must for Michael Brecker fans.

I ordered this double CD as soon as I saw LateNiteSax's original post here. Thanks for the heads-up, LNS !

That was towards the end of March. It arrived yesterday, delayed thanks to Covid-19 restrictions in the Post Office. It was worth the wait: it's a great album, with the whole band in top form. It was recorded live in Germany in 1980, but left unreleased for 40 years — how could music of this quality have been left on the shelf for so long ?
