I've been in touch with Bony James and was wondering if anyone is into him and what's he's like. I'm thinking about making him a customer of mine and I wonder if he's worth pursuing as an endorser. I don't have a clue about his music, not a clue. Any ideas? Thank you, Phil Barone

Fun, pop/r&b groove oriented music. I like a good amount of his stuff. I’m trying to get the band I play with most often to play “Backbone” :)

Is he still endorsing Aaron Drake’s pieces? I think there’s a Boney James signature model mouthpiece ..... guessing it’s some kind of high baffle Guardala type thing.

I haven’t heard his albums, but I saw a video a few years back where he was performing as the guest artist with the Grammy High School All Star band. As I recall he was getting totally smoked by the high school kids!

Well it was an allstar band... Last I knew he's endorsing Westcoast Sax's "MOAM" piece. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJAD9jvfQVU

Perhaps Phil's Trad/Cont or Trad/Cont II piece would fit the bill? Most of his stuff is a bit too smooth for my listening, but he held his own with Kirk Whalum and Kenny Garrett back in the day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQnlTyXFWS0

This clip makes me feel OLD!

I reviewed the MOAM and in the review said that I got a great Boney James kinda sound out of it! A month or two later I heard Boney was endorsing them and playing on them. Hahaha!
