[Hurling Frootmig]

Caught some tunes that Bob Gordon played on with Jack Montrose today and just couldn't help loving his tone.

From some photos I found it looks like his horn was a Conn x brace and maybe a white Runyon. His tone is close to Mulligan's and he had a similar lyrical style. I've thrown what recordings I could find on my amazon list so I'll either end up with them as gifts or purchases.

Bob Gordon has been a fav' of mine for ever. The almost tenor sound from the left-hand with the bottomish cool school thing has always appealed to me. Guys like Ronnie Ross & Jimmy Giuffre also approached this ambiamce of baritone sounds. Really advanced yet impressive stuff.
