I was going through my mouthpiece drawer and found Tenor sax a mouthpiece I forgot that I had. I got it at a very low price years ago. It is branded Woodwind Company. Also below the brand is the letters MS, which I assume means medium short. It is dark blue and looks a lot like a vandoren. I tried it out and was pleasantly surprised. It is easy blowing and has a rich tone with some edge. It will not be replacing my favorite piece but it is still a pretty darn nice find.

I am just curious. After searching the web, I could not find a thing. I am. hoping somebody here can give me some information as to what I have re-discovered.

I will add some pictured as soon as I get the opportunity.

I kind of doubt that it was a private label. Woodwind company has been around a long time and the font looks the same

I have a vague recollection years ago of having a mouthpiece from my school that was a Woodwind Company branded mouthpiece that looked exactly like a Vandoren from a distance. I don't recall it being particularly good, but I wasn't particularly good at playing the saxophone back then, so who really knows?

I sold a blue Woodwind brand mouthpiece on the marketplace here in Jan 2018 for 30.00usd. It had only “S” marked on it. I remember that it played well, but very bright and aggressive. Kind of wish I had it back to try with the darker playing BSS reeds I am using now. They seem to take the harsh edge off of bright mouthpieces and gives them some color.

My Tenor is pretty dark, so it works pretty well with it.
