So I bought a BG Super Revelation Alto Ligature to go with my Meyer 6M however I'm a jazz saxophonist and I'm wondering if I might be better off getting a BG Revelation Jazz Ligature as I might be getting too much of a classical sound with the super revelation.

Thoughts?

It is all marketing. Find the ligature that you like best, then play any music you want to play. The biggest and easiest sound I can obtain on any single-reed instrument comes from a standard Selmer metal ligature, and I have (or have had) many of the whiz-bang ligs out there. DAVE

I think a good lig mainly serves to remove unnecessary muffling of the sound from the reed being improperly seated. A jazzy sound would come mostly from embouchure and mouthpiece. My BG tradition lig plays freer than the cheapo 2-screw I had before, but sound-wise the diff is very slight.

I use the BG ligs on all my mouthpieces, metal and rubber, mainly the super revelation and the standard. they both work great but the "jazz" sound comes from how you approach your playing.
Bhamsax is exactly right; your tone production is not dictated by the ligature, as in having a classical or jazz sound, it's your approach and technique.

That being said, I have used the BG Super Revelation on a Lakey 5*3 or 6*3 on my alto for 10+ years now, and I will say that this lig gave me the best response out of all the ones I had tried.
