I've got a Yamaha YTS 62 II on order and wondered what might be the best reed for the stock 4c mouthpiece, for contemporary jazz. I'm new to the tenor, having played alto and soprano up until now. I use Vandoren ZZ reeds for my alto, and V16s for my soprano, and found the Javas to be too buzzy for the alto. I intend to look for a good mouthpiece soon, once I'm sure that the 62 II is a keeper, but I'd like to see what the potential is for the stock mpc, with the proper reed, first. I realize that there is no "best", but thought that I could "thin the herd" here first.

Rob, whatever reeds you decide on, in all honesty you wont get much happening with a stock 4C piece. The horn is fine --and very mouthpiece friendly too so have a look at what the guys are selling on here at a reasonable price. You should be able to find a "Tone Edge" or something similar perhaps around 6--6* pretty cheap. BTW Java's are great on Links IMO
