I'd also like to thank Keith for the wonderful job he did hosting June.

As the host for July, I had a couple of ideas in mind but was unable to find any backing for them.
All but one that is.
So in the end I decided to go with "The things we did last summer".
By Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne.
I came across this tune a while back while listening to a Sahib Shihab album.
Since then I have discovered many fine versions on Youtube for inspiration.
Below is a link for the dots and a backing.
I hope you all enjoy learning this tune and look forward to hearing your interpretations.
Nick.

I knew that was going to be great even before I clicked on it ... a bari ballad by Nick - killer tone and pace !
(I'd be rushing through it, and ruining it.)
I tried it on soprano for about a half hour, but it wasn't happening - I'll keep at it .. or just switch horns.

Side note .. the forum has been screwed up for me for a few days. No email notifications and the reply to thread page is missing all the icons and links stc ..

Thanks Brendan.
I think this would sound good on alto?
I had a quick play through on Tenor and wasn’t feeling it either.
I’ll try it again when I have some time.
I don’t think I’ll break out the alto in a hurry though.

Forum is pretty stuffed for everyone at the moment it would seem.
I’m having same issues as you.
Nick.

Guys, the technical forum consultants are made aware of the (many) current forum issues we are facing, but their response and action is very poor lately... To be continued.

The old saying "The show must go on" applies here ... I can learn to post without emoticons !! :bluewink:

**edit** They're back ! All is well ...

Beautifully played, I am jealous not only of your playing, but more so that you had a sunny afternoon.
Pretty dreary around here.
It's been a rare summer so far, I think about three weeks of non stop sunshine! My pasty British complexion really isn't used to it!
